Work began on the debut before the move to Ottawa was complete, with Toolie guru (and 8th cousin) Jarrett Bartlett behind the board. These beginnings, followed by further work this fall in Ottawa, have yielded Snack of Choice, eleven songs which brings together many different styles (as Toolie releases were known to) within a rock context that stands apart from Bartlett's past work.

The move to Ottawa has brought many new people into the Kelp music circle, and has allowed Bartlett to assemble his dream band — one in which he plays nothing and wields only a mic. Enlisted in the current Rhume squadron are Andrew Vincent, Jake Bryce (Recoilers), Ian Tolton (Pirates), Scott Terry (Pirates, among other things), horn player Pierre-Paul Sauvé and drummer Steffen Kaebler. Together they bring life to Snack of Choice's songs and form the foundation of was is to come for Rhume. Also of note on SOC are appearances by Ian Blurton (Change of Heart, Blurtonia), Michael Barclay (Black Cabbage), Paco the Mad Professor (Wayne Omaha) and accomplished vielle player Katherine Hill.
