TuneVault.com Turns Two!
|
In an environment of dot-com failures, layoffs and
lawsuits, the Ottawa-based independent music site
TuneVault.com has remained afloat with cautious growth
and constant attention to visitors' and members'
desires. Founded by local musician Steve Donnelly
(Jimmy George, Laguna, The Lowbellies) the site
offers a free venue for independent artists to promote
themselves as well as a low-cost consignment shop where
indie acts can sell their CD's or other goods. Artists
can post their own page for free and maintain their
artist profile through online editing tools. They can
also add links to MP3 files, calendar events, biography
and discography and links to their own or other sites.
This comprehensive promotional package is enhanced by a
low-cost consignment store enabling artists to sell
their product online world-wide, with no initial cost
and just a modest consignment fee on each sale. The
site also features a variety of original content
including reviews and features, and has attracted
hundreds of diverse bands from around the world as well
as a steady stream of new visitors.
In cooperation with local club Babylon, TuneVault.com
celebrates its two-year anniversary with a showcase of
suitably mixed styles from the Ottawa area and beyond.
The line-up includes:
- Duotang (two-piece mod-rock from Winnipeg)
- Mumbleweed (alternative rock from Ottawa)
- Ji'BeenaRoc (urban folk/hip-hop from Ottawa)
- Janice Hall (folk rock from Ottawa, featuring backing
band The Recoilers)
The evening promises to be an exciting and diverse
adventure in independent music, just as the
TuneVault.com web site aims to be. Festivities commence
at 8pm at Babylon Club, 317 Bank Street, Ottawa.
