Sandler plays John Clasky, a disenchanted husband to an overbearing wife and mother of his insecure daughter. As a world-class chef he is able to provide well for his family, including trapping like a summer home by the sea and a live-in housekeeper (and her daughter). The housekeeper ends up providing attention and affection that both Clasky and his daughter so desperately desire, creating conflict in the household, educating everyone, and ultimately forcing Clasky to come to terms with a possibly life-altering decision.
Although billed as a comedy the movie is more of a drama, with occasional humourous moments, and does not purport to have all the answers, but raises some interesting questions.
