If you're looking for instant pop gratification, look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a treasure trunk full of layered guitars and luscious vocals, look no further. Former frontman of Veal, Luke Doucet's latest release marks his fifth full-length album and one that shows his maturity as a song-writer and the deftness of his guitar playing whether it be electric, acoustic or pedal steel. Sounding at times like an eerie doppelganger of Danny Michel, Doucet's voice goes from whisper to frail falsetto as he delivers his odes to broken hearts and lost love over a folk-rock backdrop that occasionally sways into surf and country territory. Backing vocals by Melissa McClelland on several songs add some welcome sparkle to an already sparkling release.
