Check out Kid Koala's stuff while you're here!

Label: VSP Released: 3/1/2001

Montreal jazz-funk-soul fusionaries Bullfrog are back with the second CD EP in their three-part series. For those in the know, this CD will be no surprise but will certainly not disappoint either. For those out of the loop, you owe it to yourself to check out these guys while they're still "underground", they are destined for something big. At least we think so.

Featuring Blu Rum 13 and Kid Koala and mixing influences and implications as diverse as jazz, soul, 70's rock and cartoon theme songs, this 5-track CD will leave you wanting more. MC Blu Rum 13 is allowed to lead the way on one track while Kid Koala's turntablism alternately jumps into the foreground then sinks back into the mix. As is often the case in jazz and funk, simple or repetitive parts from each of the players are skillfully layered into a mix that is hard to resist. Fans of everyone from the Beastie Boys to Beck to Foghat to... I don't know - name some good jazz guys - will be tapping their toes, closing their eyes and cracking spontaneous grins at the sounds on this brief journey. Check it out, you'll enjoy it and will be left anxiously awaiting the third CD in this series.
