Randomize your Spotify Playlist song order

Spotify doesn't allow you to easily randomize the order of your playlists. Sure, you can play in "Shuffle" mode but that's inconsistent, it can play the same song twice, etc. And if you're trying to play from Google Assistant or Alexa, it may not allow you to play in shuffle mode. This allows you to mix up your Spotify playlist as needed.

To permanently change the songs in your Spotify playlist to a random order:

Instructions (Mac users: wherever it says "Ctrl", use the "Command" key)
  1. Open the Spotify desktop app (will not work in a web browser)
  2. In the Spotify app, go to the playlist you want to randomize
  3. Press Ctrl-A to select all the songs in the playlist. They will be highlighted
  4. Press Ctrl-C to copy all the songs
  5. Click in the text box below and hit Ctrl-V)
  6. You should see a list of Spotify URLs below, and the count should reflect the number of songs in the playlist
  7. Click this as many times as you want:
  8. Then click this:
(or select and copy the text in the box by pressing Ctrl-A Ctrl-C)
  9. Go back to the Spotify app. Hit Ctrl-A again just to make sure all your songs are selected. Press the Del(ete) key on your keyboard. Spotify will ask if you really want to remove all the songs in the playlist. Click the Remove button to confirm.
  10. Press Ctrl-V
  11. You should now see all the same songs in Spotify, but in the new random order.

[ The list below currently contains 0 songs. ]

Note: this tool can be used to randomize the lines in any type of text or list as long as there are line breaks between each item. It automatically removes blank lines. To use it as a random number/name picker, just type/paste in the list, hit "Mix em up" a few times, and whichever name/number is first in the list wins!
