Full Details of Selected Story:
Furnaceface Complete Fifth AlbumThe latest release from venerable Ottawa alt-pranksters Furnaceface will be officially launched November 30th. The album, entitled "and the days are short again..." contains Furnaceface's trademark mix of styles, from deceptively simple punky guitar-rockers to explorations of country-punk, rockabilly and jazzy pop. Despite the stylistic variations, the album is quintessential Furnaceface and manages to maintain a consistent sound, thanks to the experienced hands (and ears) of engineer Marty Jones of Ottawa's Sound of One Hand studio.
The first single is a radio-friendly pop number called "Heartless" sung by bassist Slo' Tom Stewart, but thanks to tracks such as "Talk Around the World" and the title track, the album will not disappoint fans of the band's harder-edged material. The album also contains such stylistic explorations as 23:59, which is not even sung by one of the band members but instead features the guest vocals of Genevieve Rochon, of Ottawa's everender. Other guests include Jim Bryson on vocals and guitar, Dave Draves on vibes and Tracey Holmes on clarinet.
The album will be distributed nationally by Sonic Unyon and will also be available for sale right here at TuneVault.com.
