Two Big Ottawa New Year's Shows Cancelled

It seems more people than expected are staying home for New Year's Eve tomorrow night. A few events have been cancelled, including "The Millennium House Party" which was set to take place at the Corel Centre in Ottawa featuring OUR LADY PEACE and MOIST among other acts. Our Lady Peace issued a statement to the press today - they want to make it clear that this event has nothing to do with their upcoming tour, adding that the Millennium Party's cancellation now opens the door for OLP to possibly add an Ottawa show to their Jan./Feb. tour. In the statement, OLP's management said the cancellation came as a surprise to them and that they're "under the impression that, like many events around the world, organizers have overestimated the desire of the public to spend a lot of money on this New Year's Eve..." Another Ottawa millennium show has also been cancelled - ticketholders for "Mask - The Millennium Eve Gala" with HOLLY COLE and CHANTAL KREVIAZUK at the Ottawa Civic Centre Theatre can get refunds at the box office starting Jan. 3.
