Full Details of Selected Story: Ottawa’s own FURNACEFACE are back again with their new video
“Heartless” –Their best ever! It’s the first single from the new
Furnaceface album “and the days are short again…” . “Heartless” tells a
story we can all relate to-the classic scenario of love gone sour.
“Heartless” was made by long time FURNACEFACE video director Anthony Seck
with Tom Stewart of the band acting as assistant director on the project.
Anthony’s the same guy that made all the other great FURNACEFACE videos like
“If You Love Her (Buy Her a Gun)”, “This will make you happy", "About to
Drown”, Slip and Stumble”, and “Biff, Bang, Pow!”. Furnaceface are releasing
“Heartless” to coincide with their coast to coast tour in May 2000. The
video tells the tale of a lonely man who literally digs up his past everyday
only to bury his memories again every night. The story is told in a surreal,
dreamlike setting, shot entirely on 16mm colour film on location in
Manotick, Ontario. The logistics of shooting outside during the month of
January in Eastern Ontario were a bit challenging but nothing or no one
froze and the barren winter landscape adds an even more bizarre twist to the
video. Jeff Moffat does a brilliant job of portraying the tortured main
character. Jeff is best known for his part as the Mexican wrestler “Santos”
in the award winning “Harry Knuckles” short that won this years Slam Dance
festival best picture honour.
